im not a braniac or anything, but i am a christian. and i don't really want to read everything that's up there. i'm just going to state my points.[pay no attention to grammar and punc. if that bothers you.]
but my opinion is that you guys are getting way too technical on proofs.
--if you could prove everything, wouldnt life be so much easier? so if you're talking about math equations or physical proof, i doubt you'll find the answer to whether God exists easily unless you search for it in life, not online.
--there's a reason why it's called religion, you believe in it rather than needing actual proof. keyword being believe. i believed there was air before i learned in chem how we know there's air, does that make me any less and air-breather than chemists? no it doesnt. [this is really awkwardly worded cause i have no idea how to put down my points in words. if you get it, good.]
--if you base your knowledge on the physical proof of science and chemistry and whatever the glorious institution of school throws at you, then waht about your emotional/spiritual [if you'll have it] side. i'm sure you know waht i mean. the other part of you that isnt all knowledge and proof, but rather needs and feelings. that's why people believe in things, cause things cant always be explained. one good but cheesy example is love. you cant explain it, the actual feelings, teh ambivalent feelings, but you feel it. oh, and what about hormones and all those chemicals in your brain? that's not part of this explanation cause my point is that love is part of your emotional part, exempt from physical explanations of it because to me, physicality and emotional things are separate.
--believing God exists is simply what it is. i admit taht i havent actually read through the whole bible, which makes me ashamed to be a christian, but i still believe, and i'm still a christian. theism sounds like all words and proofs and theories. well can you prove theories? no. so does God exist? does theism have a genuine point in existing in this world? Depends on you.'
well me? hell yes it does, why else would everyone spend time debating. think about it, if this is a topic that ppl debate about so much, shouldnt you wonder whether it's true if ppl are making such a big deal out of it? as a far analogy, think about when emperors persecuted christians for their beliefs. and yet, instead of dimishing their numbers, they grew. why is taht? cause ppl saw taht ppl were willing to die for something that they couldnt prove. it amazed ppl, and the ppl that were drawn didnt need proof or explanation.
so really, the whole arguement of whether God exists can be proved by going out in the world and experiencing it all for yourself. If you don't have teh basis of the bible, or the general idea, you're never going to see Him. and i'll tell you one thing, although the bible can be boring in some places, seeing God's greatness and works? is better than anything that could ever happen to anyone. Life's not all about numbers and figures and words. It's just not.
